Type catalog: Paepke 1999:148 [ref. 24282] as honkenii, also see his errata inside back cover. Appeared as honckenii in text and on Pl. 143, but honkenii in the index. On p. 133 of Bloch's Ichthyologie, v. 4 [ref. 21381]. Original genus should have been spelled Tetraodon. •Valid as Geneion honckenii (Bloch 1785) -- (Kottelat 2013:477 [ref. 32989], Fricke et al. 2018:388 [ref. 35805]). •Valid as Amblyrhynchote honckenii (Bloch 1785) -- (Jelks 2018:290 [ref. 36375]). •Valid as Amblyrhynchotes honckenii (Bloch 1785) -- (Smith & Heemstra 1986:895 [ref. 5714], Chen et al. 1997:185 [ref. 26476] dated 1787, Myers 1999:288 [ref. 23965], Fricke 1999:602 [ref. 24106], Ebert 2001:73 [ref. 25494], Matsuura 2001:3956 [ref. 26317] dated 1795 [sic], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S124 [ref. 27377], Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:450 [ref. 28072], Arndt & Fricke 2019:31 [ref. 36883]). Current status: Valid as Amblyrhynchote honckenii (Bloch 1785). Tetraodontidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: South and East Africa, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mauritius (Mascarenes) east to Micronesia, north to China. Habitat: brackish, marine.
