Description is quoted from Bleeker. Also appeared in Bleeker 1863:25, Pl. 3 [ref. 395]. Combined with a neuter genus, the adjective becomes guineense. •Synonym of Syacium micrurum Ranzani 1842 -- (Aldebert et al. 1990:1035 [ref. 19526]). •Valid as Syacium guineense (Bleeker 1862) (often seen as guineensis) -- (Fraser 1971:501 [ref. 21277], Murakami & Amaoka 1992:67 [ref. 19779], Heemstra in Smith & Heemstra 1995:xiv [ref. 21953], Wirtz et al. 2007:41 [ref. 30263], Wirtz et al. 2013:135 [ref. 32972], Wirtz et al. 2014:11 [ref. 33516], Munroe in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2999 [ref. 34618], Reiner 2019:294 [ref. 38139] as guineensis, Fermon et al. 2022:232 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Syacium guineense (Bleeker 1862). Cyclopsettidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: western Sahara south to Namibia, including Cape Verde Islands, and São Tomé and Principe.
