Original genus should have been Aluterus. •Synonym of Acanthaluteres spilomelanurus (Quoy & Gaimard 1824) -- (Hutchins 1977:54 [ref. 2283], Allen et al. 2006:1880 [ref. 29098]). Current status: Synonym of Acanthaluteres spilomelanurus (Quoy & Gaimard 1824). Monacanthidae. Habitat: marine.
