Holotype (unique): SMNS 2278. Type catalog: Fricke 1995:19 [ref. 28100], Fricke 2005:60 [ref. 29864]. Species originally as Mülleri, change mandatory; later described in more detail in Steindachner 1879:4 [ref. 4228]. •Valid as Dexillichthys muelleri (Steindachner 1879) -- (Allen & Swainston 1988:146 [ref. 25477], Allen 1997:234 [ref. 23977], Larson & Williams 1997:373 [ref. 23967], Johnson 1999:752 [ref. 25471], Hutchins 2001:47 [ref. 25847], Munroe 2001:3885 [ref. 26314]). •Valid as Brachirus muelleri (Steindachner 1879) -- (Munroe in Randall & Lim 2000:646 [ref. 25122]). •Valid as Dexillus muelleri (Steindachner 1879) -- (Randall et al. 2004:31 [ref. 27624], Hoese & Bray 2006:1846 [ref. 29000], Larson et al. 2013:226 [ref. 32988], Motomura et al. 2017:223 [ref. 35490], Gloerfelt-Tarp & Kailola 2022:287 [ref. 41223]). Current status: Valid as Dexillus muelleri (Steindachner 1879). Soleidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacifi: Sri Lanka east to Samoa and Tonga, north to Philippines, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
