Syntypes: BMNH 1903.9.29.5 (1); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 41 (1); SAM 15344 (2), ?15345 (12). •Valid as Citharoides macrolepis (Gilchrist 1904) -- (Heemstra 1986:853 [ref. 5660], Kim & Youn 1994:105 [ref. 22286], Evseenko 1996:726 [ref. 24666], Choi et al. 2003:429, 679 [ref. 26218], Hoese & Bray 2006:1808 [ref. 29000], Fricke et al. 2018:368 [ref. 35805], Hensley & Amaoka 2022:320 [ref. 40220]). •Valid as Paracitharus macrolepis (Gilchrist 1904) -- (Quéro & Maugé 1989:389 [ref. 19512], Hoshino 2000:326 [ref. 25114], Hoshino 2001:402 [ref. 25785]). Current status: Valid as Paracitharus macrolepis (Gilchrist 1904). Citharidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: off southeastern Africa and Madagascar; Australia. Habitat: marine.
