arenaceus, Cantherines Barnard [K. H.] 1927:78 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 9) v. 20 (no. 115) (art. 8); ref. 193] South Africa, no exact locality, probably Natal. Holotype (unique): SAM 13078. Also appeared as new in Barnard 1927:958 [ref. 194]. •Valid as Thamnaconus arenaceus (Barnard 1927) -- (Hutchins 1986:887 [ref. 5673] with original genus as Cantherhines, Matsuura 2014:13 [ref. 33576], Fricke et al. 2018:382 [ref. 35805], Hutchins 2022:444 [ref. 40252]). Current status: Valid as Thamnaconus arenaceus (Barnard 1927). Monacanthidae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) to Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
