H.] 1965:181, Figs. 1-2 [Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences Section B (Animal Sciences) v. 62 (no. 4); ref. 1167] Visakhapatnam in Bay of Bengal, India. Holotype: MDZAU. Paratypes: (5). Originally as ventrocellatus, but genus is feminine and species is correctly ventrocellata. •Valid as Cephalopsetta ventrocellatus Dutt & Rao 1965 -- (Hensley & Amaoka 1989 [ref. 19772] with a and us spelling, Krishnan & Mishra 1993:234 [ref. 24016]). •Valid as Cephalopsetta ventrocellata Dutt & Rao 1965 -- (Evseenko 1996:726 [ref. 24666], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S122 [ref. 27377], Psomadakis et al. 2015:322 [ref. 34104], Habib & Islam 2020:Supplementary table p. 11 [ref. 38321], Psomadakis et al. 2020:583 [ref. 37272], Hensley & Amaoka 2022:351 [ref. 40226], Ummath et al. 2024:[7] [ref. 41632]). Current status: Valid as Cephalopsetta ventrocellata Dutt & Rao 1965. Paralichthyidae. Distribution: Northern Indian Ocean: Gulf of Oman, Pakistan and India east to Myanmar. Habitat: marine.
