Holotype: ZSI F643/2. Paratypes: ZSI F644/2 (1). Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:128 [ref. 20743], Ferraris 2007:387 [ref. 29155]. Original genus should have been Glyptosternon. •Valid as Glyptosternon akhtari Silas 1952 -- (Coad 1981:16 [ref. 22348] as Glyptosternum, He 1996:129 [ref. 22297] as Glyptosternum, Burgess 1989:133 [ref. 12860], Thomson & Page 2006:70 [ref. 28859], Ferraris 2007:387 [ref. 29155], Linthoingambi & Vishwanath 2011:65 [ref. 31148], Çiçek et al. 2023:39 [ref. 40326]). Current status: Valid as Glyptosternon akhtari Silas 1952. Sisoridae: Glyptosterninae. Distribution: South sia: Bamian River, Indus drainage (Afghanistan) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
