Stockholm v. 24 (afd. 4) (no. 5); ref. 4147] Puerto Madryn, 43°S, Argentina, southwestern Atlantic. Lectotype: NRM 40358. Paralectotypes: NRM 45667 (4). Original genus should have been Tripterygion. Lectotype designated by Williams & Springer 2001:122 [ref. 26032]. •Valid as Tripterygion cunninghami Smitt 1898 -- (Pequeño 1989:66 [ref. 14125], Stepien 1990:600 [ref. 19879]). •Valid as Helcogrammoides cunninghami (Smitt 1898) -- (Gon 1990:400 [ref. 21680], Fricke 1997:581 [ref. 23339], Castillo & Pequeño 1998:113 [ref. 23987], Williams & Springer 2001:121 [ref. 26032], Jawad & Clements 2004:85 [ref. 27725], Fricke 2009:47 [ref. 30394], Patzner et al. 2009:447 [ref. 30396], Cornejo & Ibáñez 2018:275 [ref. 36410], Cornejo et al. 2018:17 [ref. 36409]). Current status: Valid as Helcogrammoides cunninghami (Smitt 1898). Tripterygiidae: Tripterygiinae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific, southwestern Atlantic: southern Chile, southern Argentina. Habitat: marine.
