B.] 1966:9, Fig. 1A [American Museum Novitates No. 2274; ref. 892] Río Atabapo, tributary of Orinoco River on the border between Amazonas, Venezuela and Vaupes, Colombia. Holotype: MNHN 1887-836. Paratypes: AMNH 20808 (1), MNHN B-2529 (7), USNM 199463 (7, 1 c&s). Type catalog: Collette et al. 1992:4 [ref. 19410], Collette et al. 1997:9 [ref. 22813]. •Valid as Belonion dibranchodon Collette 1966 -- (Collette 1974:170 [ref. 7131], Lovejoy & de Araújo 2000:261 [ref. 31786], Lovejoy & Collette 2001:329 [ref. 25232], Lovejoy & Collette in Reis et al. 2003:586 [ref. 27061], Collette 2003:3 [ref. 27306], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:100 [ref. 35633], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:27 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Belonion dibranchodon Collette 1966. Belonidae. Distribution: South America: Amazon and Orinoco river basins (Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
