Sinica, Sinkiang, Bureau of Water Conservancy and Dept. Biol. Sinkiang Univ. 64-981 to 982 (2), 64-986 to 987 (2), 64-989 to 991 (3). Type catalog: Ye et al. 2015:96 [ref. 33808]. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Cottus poecilopus altaicus Kashchenko 1899. Replaced by Cottus dzungaricus Kottelat 2006:60 [ref. 28831]. •Incorrectly treated as valid -- (Zhu 1995:189 [ref. 25213]). •Synonym of Cottus dzungaricus Kottelat 2006 -- (Ye et al. 2015:96 [ref. 33808]). •Synonym of Cottus sibiricus, subspecies altaicus Li & Ho 1966 -- (Zhang et al. 2016:193 [ref. 34477] as altieus). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Cottus dzungaricus Kottelat 2006. Cottidae. Habitat: freshwater.
