Appeared as a nomen nudum as labratori in an earlier 1963 Castex paper (see Carvalho, Lovejoy & Rosa in Reis et al. 2003:25 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Potamotrygon pauckei Castex 1963 -- (López et al. 2003:6 [ref. 27366], Menni 2004:70 [ref. 28131], Loboda & Carvalho 2013:699 [ref. 33024], Koerber 2014:1 [ref. 33621]). •Synonym of Potamotrygon motoro (Müller & Henle 1841) -- (Carvalho et al. in Reis et al. 2003:25 [ref. 27061], Litz & Koerber 2014:5 [ref. 33622], Mirande & Koerber 2015:8 [ref. 35117], Weigmann 2016:156 [ref. 34211], Koerber et al. 2017:10 [ref. 35267]). Current status: Synonym of Potamotrygon motoro (Müller & Henle 1841). Potamotrygonidae: Potamotrygoninae. Habitat: freshwater.
