Syntypes: (5). Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied in Monopterus by Amphipnous indicus Silas & Dawson 1961, replaced by Monopterus eapeni Talwar 1991. When both species are not in Monopterus, the secondary homonym has to be reinstated again, being replaced after 1960 [ICZN Art. 59.4]. •Treated as valid as Monopterus indicus Eapen 1963 -- (Rosen & Greenwood 1976:57 [ref. 7094]). •Synonym of Monopterus eapeni Talwar 1963. •Valid as Rakthamichthys indicus (Eapen 1963) -- (Britz et al. 2020:232 [ref. 38035]). 2°Homonym. Current status: Valid as Rakthamichthys indicus (Eapen 1963). Synbranchidae. Distribution: South Asia: southwestern effluents of the Western Ghats, Kerala (southern India). Habitat: freshwater.
