Current status: Valid as Xestochilus nebulosus (Smith 1962). Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa and Madagascar; Andaman Islands; Indonesia east to Palau, Marshall and Marquesas islands. Habitat: marine.
