W.] 1962:60, Fig. 24 [Dana Report No. 58; ref. 5896] North of Ascension Island, 3°45'S, 10°00'W, Dana station D3999, depth about 350 meters (1000 meters wire out) over bottom depth of 3719 meters. Holotype: ZMUC P41172. Paratypes: (9) ZMUC P41173-75 (3), plus additional material. Type catalog: Nielsen 1974:59 [ref. 9588]. •Valid as Melamphaes leprus Ebeling 1962 -- (Maul 1990:612 [ref. 17237], Kotlyar 1996:273 [ref. 23292], Kotlyar 2004:2 [ref. 27590], Kotlyar 2011:578 [ref. 31579], Kotlyar 2012:253 [ref. 32009], Moore 2016:2165 [ref. 34570], Sutton et al. 2020:241 [ref. 37832], Afonso et al. 2021:470 [ref. 38384], Eduardo et al. 2022:9 [ref. 39574], Fermon et al. 2022:201 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Melamphaes leprus Ebeling 1962. Melamphaidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: off northern Brazil; eastern Atlantic: Guinea Bissau south to Gabon. Habitat: marine.
