heterodon, Alburnops Cope [E. D.] 1865:281 [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 16; ref. 13927] Lansing and Grosse Isle, Michigan, U.S.A. Syntypes: (numerous) not ANSP 2055 (1); UMMZ 213795-96 (1, 10). Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:48 [ref. 7042], Gilbert 1998:91-92 [ref. 23395]. Böhlke 1984:78 [ref. 13621] doubtfully referred as "holotype" ANSP 2055, which may be the one on which Cope based his description [but it can only be a syntype as the account mentions many specimens]. Fowler 1918:20 [ref. 11665] reported the types as lost. •Valid as Alburnops heterodon Cope 1865 -- (Gilbert 1978:48 [ref. 7042], Lee et al. 1980:271 [ref. 22416], Smith 1986:188 [ref. 22186]). •Valid as Notropis heterodon (Cope 1865) -- (McAllister 1990:63 [ref. 14674], Page & Burr 1991:145 [ref. 18983], Gilbert 1998:92 [ref. 23395], Scott & Crossman 1998:454 [ref. 24570], Lyons et al. 2000:26 [ref. 26594], Houston 2002:608 [ref. 26242], Holm et al. 2002:615 [ref. 26241], Nelson et al. 2004:74 [ref. 27807], Bailey et al. 2004:93 [ref. 27882], Scharpf 2005:29 [ref. 28940], Page & Burr 2011:273 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:75 [ref. 32708]). •Valid as Miniellus heterodon (Cope 1865) -- (Stout et al. 2022:7 [ref. 39738], Page et al. 2023:73 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Miniellus heterodon (Cope 1865). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: North America: mostly St. Lawrence--Great Lakes and Upper Mississippi River basin.
