Current status: Valid as Eustomias bulbornatus Gibbs 1960. Stomiidae: Melanostomiinae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic: off Namibia and South Africa; Indo-West Pacific: South Africa, East Africa, Aldabra, Comoros, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Marquesas Islands and Society Islands, north to southern Japan, south to North-West Cape (Western Australia). Habitat: marine.
