Paratypes: (39) BMNH 1962.10.18.32 (1), 1962.10.18.33-50 (18). •Questionably a synonym of Copadichromis cyaneus (Trewavas 1935) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:306 [ref. 13547] and valid on p. 310). •Valid as Copadichromis virginalis (Iles 1960) -- (Maréchal 1991:58 [ref. 20944], Stauffer & Sato 2002:91 [ref. 26070], Snoeks & Hanssens 2004:275 [ref. 28117], Stauffer & Konings 2006:12 [ref. 28633], Konings 2016:153 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Copadichromis virginalis (Iles 1960). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
