Holotype (unique): MNRJ 9119. •Synonym of Lupinoblennius vinctus (Poey 1867) -- (Bath 1996:91 [ref. 22687]). •Valid as Lupinoblennius paivai (Pinto 1958) -- (Sazima & Carvalho-Filho 2003:175 [ref. 26880], Moura & Menezes in Menezes et al. 2003:96 [ref. 27192], Patzner et al. 2009:456 [ref. 30396], Machado et al. 2017:2394 [ref. 35374], Carvalho-Filho et al. in Marceniuk et al. 2021:282 [ref. 38945], Carvalho-Filho 2023:229 [ref. 40480]). Current status: Valid as Lupinoblennius paivai (Pinto 1958). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Southwestern Atlantic: Pará south to Santa Catarina (Brazil) endemic. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
