Holotype (unique): not researched. Spelled matsubari on plate caption. Also described as new in Watanabe 1960:80, Pl. 26 (fig. 2) [ref. 11959]. •Valid as Myoxocephalus matsubarai Watanabe 1958 -- (Yabe in Masuda et al. 1984:327 [ref. 6441]). •Synonym of Myxocephalus jaok (Cuvier 1829) -- (Nakabo 2002:1526 [ref. 26001], Dyldin & Orlov 2017:65 [ref. 35138]). Current status: Synonym of Myoxocephalus jaok (Cuvier 1829). Psychrolutidae. Distribution: Western North Pacific. Habitat: marine.
