shiroanago, Alloconger shiroanago Asano [H.] 1958:193 [English p. 195], Fig. 2 [Dobutsugaku Zasshi = Zoological Magazine Tokyo v. 67 (no. 7); ref. 12045] Off Owashi, Mie Prefecture, Japan. Holotype: FAKU 19016. Paratypes: FAKU 1117 (1), 1119 (1), 2076-77 (2), 2111 (1), 20599 (1), 21312 (1), 21710-11 (2), 23551 (1), 25156-68 (13), 25275-76 (2), 26915 (1). Described originally with a second subspecies; types of A. s. shiroanago are regarded as the types for the species A. shiroanago Asano. •Valid as Ariosoma shiroanago (Asano 1958), subspecies shiroanago -- (Machida in Okamura & Kitajima 1984:93, 319 [ref. 8057], Asano in Masuda et al. 1984:27 [ref. 6441], Nakabo 2000:228 [ref. 25086], Shinohara et al. 2001:294 [ref. 25995], Nakabo 2002:228 [ref. 26001], Shinohara et al. 2005:401 [ref. 28370]). •Valid as Ariosoma shiroanago (Asano 1958) -- (Smith 1989:495 [ref. 13285], Lee & Joo 1999:24 [ref. 25724], Choi et al. 2003:145, 493 [ref. 26218], Shinohara et al. 2014:236 [ref. 33330], Ho et al. 2015:144 [ref. 34130], Smith et al. 2018:103 [ref. 36040], Sonoyama et al. 2020:18 [ref. 37637]). Current status: Valid as Ariosoma shiroanago (Asano 1958). Congridae: Bathymyrinae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: Taiwan to Japan. Habitat: marine.
