Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:27-28 [ref. 19236], Böhlke 1984:64 [ref. 13621], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:27 [ref. 12367], Hutchins & Smith 1991:8 [ref. 19335], Moore et al. 2008:6 [ref. 30117] but spelled vallachia. •Synonym of Cobitis aurata De Filippi 1863, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Lelek 1987:250 [ref. 22962]). •Synonym of Sabanejewia balcanica (Karaman 1922) -- (Kottelat 1997:91 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Sabanejewia aurata (De Filippi 1863), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Vasil'eva 1998:102 [ref. 23591]). •Valid as Sabanejewia vallachica (Nalbant 1957) -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:327 [ref. 29996], Kottelat 2012:42 [ref. 32367], Vasil'eva et al. 2022:11 [ref. 39491], Vasil'eva & Vasil'ev 2023:[10] [ref. 40114]). Current status: Valid as Sabanejewia vallachica (Nalbant 1957). Cobitidae. Distribution: Eastern Europe: Danube River drainage, Romania. Habitat: freshwater.
