Holotype: SMF 3966. Paratypes: SMF 3967 (1), 4244 (1). Genus is correctly Nemacheilus. •Synonym of Acanthocobitis zonalternans (Blyth 1860) -- (Kottelat 1990:36 [ref. 14137], Bănărescu & Nalbant 1995:433 [ref. 23187] with reservation, Kottelat 2012:51 [ref. 31992], Kottelat 2012:76 [ref. 32367] with question, Kottelat 2013:199 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Paracanthocobitis zonalternans (Blyth 1860) -- (Singer & Page 2015:397 [ref. 33823]). •Valid as Paracanthocobitis phuketensis (Klausewitz 1957) -- (Singer et al. 2017:94 [ref. 35606], Dvořák et al. 2022:151 [ref. 39205]). Current status: Valid as Paracanthocobitis phuketensis (Klausewitz 1957). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Panang Tak drainage, Peninsular Thailand, Phuket Island and river drainages in northern Peninsular Malaysia. Habitat: freshwater.
