Hay of Jordan & Gilbert 1883:197 [ref. 2476] = Hypsilepis diplaemia of Cope 1867:357 [ref. 910], Cope 1868:162 [ref. 7316] (not Semotilus diplemia Rafinesque 1820). Spelled two ways on p. 476; lithrurus spelling corrected on p. viii to lythrurus. For type information see Snelson & Pflieger 1975:235 [ref. 12387] but they and Gilbert wrongly treat Cope's description as the original one, but Jordan & Gilbert's account can stand as the original description for lythrurus as cited by Jordan 1884, and more types probably are involved.
