Current status: Valid as Parascorpaena maculipinnis Smith 1957. Scorpaenidae: Scorpaeninae. Distribution: East Africa and Madagascar; Ryukyu Islands and southern Japan; northern Australia. Probably more widespread. Habitat: marine.
