Paralectotypes: (94) ZIN 31892 (3 of 4, with lectotype), 25602 (2). Lectotype perhaps established in Berg 1948:144, Fig. 89 [ref. 12882] but designated by Svetovidov 1952:238 [ref. 21481]. •Synonym of Caspialosa caspia (Eichwald 1838), but a valid subspecies -- (Berg 1948:143 [ref. 12882]). •In genus Alosa based on placement of caspia Eichwald by Svetovidov 1973 [ref. 7169]. •Synonym of Alosa caspia (Eichwald 1838), but a valid subspecies -- (Whitehead 1985:197 [ref. 5141], Heckman 1991:147 [ref. 24828], Coad 1995:8 [ref. 23608], Reshetnikov et al. 1997:727 [ref. 24702], Dorofeeva 1998:25 [ref. 23573], Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2020:22 [ref. 37983], Çiçek et al. 2024:38 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Synonym of Alosa caspia (Eichwald 1838). Alosidae. Distribution: Southwestern Caspian Sea [this subspecies]. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
