Lectotype (?): ZIN 15921 (1 of 6, 200 mm). Paralectotypes: ZIN 15868 (?6, now 5), ?USNM [ex ZIN 15868] (1). Non-types from ref. 20032: ZIN 15867 (1) 15880 (9, now 5), 15881 (1, lost), 15882 (1), 15921 (5, with lectotype), 15923 (1, lost). Appeareed first as above in a newspaper -- see Bogutskaya & Kerzhner 2007:139 [ref. 32248].; then as Grimm 1887:16 [ref. 20032]. The original spelling was saposchnikowii. Current status: Valid as Alosa saposchnikowii Grimm 1885. Alosidae. Distribution: Eurasia: Caspian Sea basin. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
