palaeostomi, Caspialosa tanaica Sadowsky [A.] 1934:139 [Trudy Zoologicheskogo Sektora, Akademija Nauk SSSR, Zakavkazskij Fillal v. 1; ref. 18651] Palaeostomi Lake, not far from Rionmündung, west Georgia, Eurasia. Neotype: ZIN 31740 (1 of 50, 146.5 mm). Neotype designated by Svetovidov 1952:231 [ref. 21481]. Name spelled paleostomi by Pavlov 1959:105, 107 [ref. 22963]. •Synonym of Caspialosa caspia (Eichwald 1838), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Berg 1948:136 [ref. 12882]). •Synonym of Alosa caspia (Eichwald 1838), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Svetovidov 1973:106 [ref. 7169], Whitehead in Whitehead et al. 1984:271 [ref. 13675], Whitehead 1985:197 [ref. 5141], Mogil'chenko 1991:171 [ref. 24826], Reshetnikov et al. 1997:727 [ref. 24702], Dorofeeva 1998:25 [ref. 23573], Sokolov 1998:25 [ref. 23571], Ninua & Japoshvili 2008:164 [ref. 31251]). •Synonym of Alosa tanaica (Grimm 1901) -- (Kottelat 1997:40 [ref. 22952], Bilecenoğlu et al. 2002:35 [ref. 26753]). Current status: Synonym of Alosa tanaica (Grimm 1901). Alosidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
