Paratypes: BMNH 1951.9.18.2 (1). •Synonym of Wetmorella philippina Fowler & Bean 1928, but a valid subspecies -- (Dor 1984:210 [ref. 29757]). •Synonym of Wetmorella nigropinnata (Seale 1901) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:47 [ref. 24943], Golani & Fricke 2018:130 [ref. 36273]). •Valid as Wetmorella bifasciata Schultz & Marshall 1954 -- (Randall & Victor 2022:264 [ref. 39916]). Current status: Valid as Wetmorella bifasciata Schultz & Marshall 1954. Labridae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: Gulf of Aden, East Africa, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar and Mascarenes (Mauritius) east to Philippines. Habitat: marine.
