Holotype: USNM 157776. Paratypes: USNM 157778 (1). May be a synonym of Leirus moselii Cunningham 1910 from St. Helena -- Haedrich 2003:1867 [ref. 27117]. •Valid as Hyperoglyphe bythites (Ginsburg 1954) -- (Haedrich 1967:58 [ref. 5357], Karrer 1986:79 [ref. 6762], Robins & Ray 1986:269 [ref. 23100], Boschung 1992:171 [ref. 23239], Haedrich 2003:1868 [ref. 27117], Haedrich 2003:1868 [ref. 27117], Nelson et al. 2004:177 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:182 [ref. 32708], Carvalho-Filho 2023:263 [ref. 40480], Moral-Flores et al. 2023:155 [ref. 40460], Page et al. 2023:114 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Hyperoglyphe bythites (Ginsburg 1954). Centrolophidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico. Habitat: marine.
