Holotype: MGAB 49908. Paratypes: (12) ANSP 98961 (1), BMNH 1957.12.9.224 (1) Danube at Sulma, CAS-SU 62179 (1), USNM 190209 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:69 [ref. 13621], Mihai-Bardan 1984:456 [ref. 21542]. •Synonym of Gobio kesslerii Dybowski 1862, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Lelek 1987:194 [ref. 22962] as kessleri, Bănărescu 1992:321 [ref. 40251] as kessleri, Bănărescu 1999:135, 151 [ref. 24846] as kessleri). •Synonym of Gobio kesslerii Dybowski 1862 -- (Kottelat 1997:62 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Romanogobio antipai (Bănărescu 1953) -- (Naseka & Freyhof 2004:18 [ref. 27663], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:101 [ref. 29996], Friedrich et al. 2018:340 [ref. 35869], Bogutskaya et al. 2019:111 [ref. 36545]). Current status: Valid as Romanogobio antipai (Bănărescu 1953). Gobionidae. Distribution: Southeastern Europe: lower Danube River drainage, Romania and Ukraine. Habitat: freshwater.
