intermedius, Schizothorax McClelland [J.] & Griffith [W.] in McClelland 1842:579, Pl. 12 (fig. 1) [Calcutta Journal of Natural History v. 2 (no. 8); ref. 2926] Cabul River at Jullalabad and Tarnuck River, Afghanistan. Syntypes: (3) whereabouts unknown. The new species description is based on p. 579; the list on p. 573 gives additional information on authorship. •Valid as Racoma intermedia (McClelland 1842) -- (Wu & Wu 1992:329 [ref. 21205]). •Questionably a synonym of Schizothorax labiatus (McClelland 1842) -- (Kullander et al. 1999:122 [ref. 23689]). •Synonym of Schizothorax curvifrons Heckel 1838 -- (Menon 1999:110 [ref. 24904]). •Valid as Schizothorax intermedius McClelland & Griffith 1842 [often with authorship as McClelland] -- (Berg 1949:712 [ref. 20661], Coad 1981:12 [ref. 22348], Coad 1995:20 [ref. 23608], Coad 1996:71 [ref. 25297], Coad 1998:102 [ref. 23869], Esmaeili et al. 2010:371 [ref. 33391], Esmaeili et al. 2010:371 [ref. 33391], Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2015:879 [ref. 34062], Zhang et al. 2016:123 [ref. 34477] as intermedia, Esmaeili et al. 2017:57 [ref. 35254], Esmaeili et al. 2018:37 [ref. 36089]). Current status: Valid as Schizothorax intermedius McClelland & Griffith 1842. Cyprinidae: Schizothoracinae. Distribution: Afganistan, Iran and ? China. Habitat: freshwater.
