Holotype (unique): ZSI F13197 (mutilated). Type catalog: Talwar 1977:636 [ref. 26599]. Figured in Alcock 1900: Pl. 32 (fig. 3) [ref. 20536]. Leptoderma is neuter, therefore affine is correct, as some authors have already suggested. •Valid as Leptoderma affinis Alcock 1899 -- (Sazonov & Markle 1999:1893 [ref. 24739], Hoese et al. 2006:389 [ref. 29035], Byrkjedal et al. 2011:49 [ref. 31301], Angulo et al. 2016:498 [ref. 34156]). •Valid as Leptoderma affine Alcock 1899 -- (Hutchins 2001:19 [ref. 25847], Williams & Sazonov 2008:202 [ref. 30623], Williams & Stewart 2015:369 [ref. 34243]). Current status: Valid as Leptoderma affine Alcock 1899. Alepocephalidae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Habitat: marine.
