Holotype (unique): MCZ 28524. •Valid as Danaphos oculatus (Garman 1899) -- (Peden & Hughes 1986:2 [ref. 9714], Matarese et al. 1989:104 [ref. 26885], Pequeño 1989:31 [ref. 14125], McAllister 1990:90 [ref. 14674], Shinohara et al. 1994:61 [ref. 22800], De La Cruz Agüero et al. 1997:291 [ref. 24545], Love et al. 2005:36 [ref. 37547], Mundy 2005:169 [ref. 28379], Kells et al. 2016:347 [ref. 35888], Burton & Lea 2019:42 [ref. 37205], Fricke et al. 2019:60 [ref. 36673], Love et al. 2021:57 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:85 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Danaphos oculatus (Garman 1899). Sternoptychidae: Maurolicinae. Distribution: Tropical and warm temperate waters of the Pacific (in eastern Pacific from British Columbia/Canada south to Chile; Indian Ocean questionable). Habitat: marine.
