Syntypes: BMNH 1862.7.26.3-4 (2); SMNS 1069 (1); ZMB 5004-05 (1, 1). On p. 15 of separate (not verified). Appeared first as name only as Salmo grayii as a remark on exhibited charrs, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 1861:391. Also appeared in Günther 1863:12 [ref. 18217] as Salmo grayii. •Valid as Salvelinus grayi (Günther 1862) -- (Kottelat 1997:153 [ref. 22952], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:438 [ref. 29996]). •Synonym of Salvelinus alpinus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Barthelemy et al. 2023:43 [ref. 40648]). Current status: Synonym of Salvelinus alpinus (Linnaeus 1758). Salmonidae: Salmoninae. Habitat: freshwater.
