Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa and Persian Gulf east to Gulf of Thailand, north to southern Korea, central Sea of Japan (Japan) and Pacific coast of southern Japan. Former records from Red Sea and Mediterranean based on S. lessepsianus. Habitat: marine.
