Syntypes: (many) whereabouts unknown. •Synonym of Thymallus arctius (Pallas 1776) -- (Bogutskaya et al. 2001:46 [ref. 26178]). •Synonym of Thymallus arcticus (Pallas 1776) but a valid subspecies as described -- (Berg 1948:426 [ref. 12882], Sideleva 2001:49 [ref. 26181], Sideleva 2003:13 [ref. 27815]). •Valid as Thymallus brevipinnis Svetovidov 1931 -- (Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:147 [ref. 28183], Kottelat 2006:86 [ref. 28831], Dyldin et al. 2017:112 [ref. 35967], Weiss et al. 2020:[3] [ref. 37974], Bogdanov & Knizhin 2022:1699 [ref. 40154]). Current status: Valid as Thymallus brevipinnis Svetovidov 1931. Salmonidae: Thymallinae. Distribution: North Asia: Lake Baikal and tributaries (Russia). Habitat: freshwater.
