E.] 1931:19, Figs. 6-7 [Bulletin of the Bingham Oceanographic Collection Yale University v. 2 (art. 4); ref. 3371] Off Puerto Vallarta, Pacific coast of Mexico, 20°48'15"N, 106°11'50"W, 3240 feet wire out. Holotype: YPM 2654. Paratypes: YPM 2655 (1). Type catalog: Post 1972:142 [ref. 20860], Moore & Boardman 1991:23-24 [ref. 16741]. •Valid as Lestidium pacificum (Parr 1931) -- (Pequeño 1989:34 [ref. 14125]). •Synonym of Lestidiops jayakari (Boulenger 1889), but a valid subspecies pacifica (Parr 1931) -- (Castro-Aguirre 1991:78 [ref. 19554], Fukui & Ozawa 2004:293 [ref. 28076], Mundy 2005:204 [ref. 28379], Grove et al. 2022:17 [ref. 41326]). •Valid as Lestidiops pacificus (Parr 1931) -- (Gomon et al. 1994:271 [ref. 22532] as pacifica, Love et al. 2005:41 [ref. 37547], Fricke et al. 2011:360 [ref. 31242], Love et al. 2021:63 [ref. 39279], Ho & Tsai 2023:479 [ref. 40364], Page et al. 2023:92 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Lestidiops pacificus (Parr 1931). Paralepididae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern California (U.S.A.) south to Colombia, including southern entrance of Gulf of California (Mexico) and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). IUCN (2020): Least Concern (as L. pacificus). Habitat: marine.
