T.] 1966:162, Fig. 7; Pl. 20 (figs. 4-5) [Videnskabelige Meddelelser fra Dansk Naturhistorisk Forening, Kjøbenhavn v. 129; ref. 218] Ghazni River at Ghazni [33°33'N, 68°26'E], tributary of Ab-i-Istadah Lake, Helmand drainage, Afghanistan. Holotype: BMNH 1944.4.1.1. Paratypes: BMNH 1944.4.1.2-6 (5). Genus is correctly Nemacheilus. •Valid as Nemacheilus ghazniensis Bănărescu & Nalbant 1966 -- (Coad 1981:14 [ref. 22348] as Noemacheilus, Coad 1995:22 [ref. 23608]). •Valid as Paracobitis ghazniensis (Bănărescu & Nalbant 1966) -- (Bănărescu & Nalbant 1995:443 [ref. 23187], Prokofiev 2009:888 [ref. 30604], Kottelat 2012:99 [ref. 32367], Mousavi-Sabet et al. 2015:340 [ref. 33744], Çiçek et al. 2023:10 [ref. 40326]). Current status: Valid as Paracobitis ghazniensis (Bănărescu & Nalbant 1966). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Northern-central Asia: Afghanistan endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
