Originally as potaroënsis. •Incertae sedis in Characidae -- (Lucena & Lucena 2002:119 [ref. 26205], [various authors] in Reis et al. 2003:104 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Deuterodon potaroensis Eigenmann 1909 -- (Taphorn et al. 2022:14 [ref. 41297] tentative in Deuterodon). Current status: Uncertain as Deuterodon potaroensis Eigenmann 1909. Acestrorhamphidae: Stygichthyinae. Distribution: South America: Potaro River basin (Guyana) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
