Syntypes: (many) MCZ 20810 (1, missing), 20812 (30). Original as içae. •Synonym of Moenkhausia lepidura (Kner 1858), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Géry 1992:69 [ref. 20972]). •Valid as Moenkhausia icae Eigenmann 1908 -- (Benine in Reis et al. 2003:147 [ref. 27061], Marinho & Langeani 2010:66 [ref. 30941], Marinho & Langeani 2010:887 [ref. 30927], Oliveira & Marinho 2016:573 [ref. 34342], Marinho & Langeani 2016:348 [ref. 34416], Marinho & Benine 2024:228 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia icae Eigenmann 1908. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Solimões, Iça and Japurá River drainages, Amazon basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
