Also published in Günther (Sept.) 1868:245 [ref. 5756]. •Valid as Moenkhausia ovalis (Günther 1868) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:9 [ref. 9708], Benine in Reis et al. 2003:149 [ref. 27061], Géry & Zarske 2004:42 [ref. 28287], Barriga Salazar 2014:108 [ref. 35745], see DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[10] [ref. 35679], Marinho & Benine 2024:233 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia ovalis (Günther 1868). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon River basin, Peru and Ecuador. Habitat: freshwater.
