Possible holotype in USNM 120283 [ex MCZ 6343] (3) or in MCZ 6343 (now 11); originally given as "Type No. 6343; one specimen." Type catalog: Vari & Howe 1991:36 [ref. 19022]. •Valid as Pyrrhulina maxima Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1889 -- (Weitzman & Weitzman in Reis et al. 2003:248 [ref. 27061], Netto-Ferreira 2024:391 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Pyrrhulina maxima Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1889. Lebiasinidae: Pyrrhulininae. Distribution: South America: western Amazon River basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
