troemneri, Cheirodon Fowler [H. W.] 1942:1, Fig. [The Fish Culturist v. 22 (no. 1); ref. 17876] Aquarium fish without locality, thought to have been obtained in Brazil. Holotype (unique): ANSP 70157 [but now with wrong specimen]. Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:55 [ref. 13621], but specimen now in ANSP 70157 is not the type (see Weitzman & Palmer 1997:231 [ref. 22743]). The non-type specimen is recataloged as ANSP 210697. •Valid, genus uncertain -- (Weitzman & Palmer 1997:233 [ref. 22743]). •Synonym of Hyphessobrycon rosaceus Durbin 1909 -- (Lima & Malabarba in Reis et al. 2003:139 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Hyphessobrycon troemneri (Fowler 1942) -- (Lima et al. 2024:203 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon troemneri (Fowler 1942). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
