Lectotype: NMW 68873.1. Paralectotypes: MSNG 9238 (1), NMW 68873.2-3 (2). Type catalog: Tortonese 1961:184 [ref. 10343]. Originally described as above, species later described as "Curimatus magdalenae n. sp.? (an Curim. argenteus Gill.?)" in more detail in Steindachner 1879:50 [p. 34 of separate] [ref. 4227]. Lectotype selected by Vari 1992:58 [ref. 19020]. •Valid as Curimata magdalenae Steindachner 1878 -- (Bussing 1987:97 [ref. 22927], Galvis et al. 1997:35 [ref. 23651]). •Valid as Cyphocharax magdalenae (Steindachner 1878) -- (Vari 1992:56 [ref. 19020], Bussing 1998:126 [ref. 24179], Vari in Reis et al. 2003:55 [ref. 27061], Angulo et al. 2013:991 [ref. 33194], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:42 [ref. 35633], Angulo et al. 2020:5 [ref. 37425], Angulo 2021:15 [ref. 38913]). Current status: Valid as Cyphocharax magdalenae (Steindachner 1878). Curimatidae. Distribution: Central America, northwestern South America: Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
