Syntypes: (several) NMW 62427 (24), 62431-32 (19, 6), 62426 (2). Originally spelled boa vistae and as a new variety. On p. 16 of separate; also described in Steindachner 1917 [ref. 15259]. Species not listed in earlier abstract [ref. 18909]. Current status: Valid as Characidium boavistae Steindachner 1915. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: Tributary of Lake Maracaibo, Orinoco River basin and northern tributaries of Amazon basin: Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
