Paratypes: MNRJ 3854 (1). Combined with a neuter genus, the specific names becomes grajahuense. •Valid as Characidium grajahuensis Travassos 1944 -- (Buckup 1993:101 [ref. 20831], Buckup in Reis et al. 2003:89 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Characidium grajahuense Travassos 1944 -- (Buckup et al. 2000:276 [ref. 25084], Lujan et al, 2013:456 [ref. 32922], Leitão & Buckup 2014:21 [ref. 33323], Zanata & Camelier 2014:340 [ref. 33380], Zanata & Ohara 2015:375 [ref. 33970], Zanata & Camelier 2015:497 [ref. 33983], Zanata et al. 2015:381 [ref. 34023], Zanata et al. 2018:84 [ref. 36279]). Current status: Valid as Characidium grajahuense Travassos 1944. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: Coastal streams in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
