Named after a woman so the correct species epithet would be vintonae (ICZN Art. 31.1.2). •Valid as Ammocryptocharax vintonae (Eigenmann 1909) -- (Buckup 1993:112 [ref. 20831], Buckup 1993:327 [ref. 26741], Buckup in Reis et al. 2003:88 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Valid as Ammocryptocharax vintonae (Eigenmann 1909). Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: South America: Potaro River, Mazaruni River, and Uiaren River: Guyana and Venezuela. Habitat: freshwater.
