melanopleura, Leporinus Günther [A.] 1864:310 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 5; ref. 1974] Rio Una, Bahia, Brazil. Lectotype: BMNH 1863:3.27.6. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1863.3.27.7 (1) Bahia, 1861.5.16.14 (1, skin) Cipo. Lectotype selected by Birindelli et al 2013:10 [ref. 32698]; lectotype 1861.5.16.14 is not this species. •Valid as Leporinus melanopleura Günther 1864 -- (Garavello & Britski in Reis et al. 2003:76 [ref. 27061], Britski & Garavello 2005:81 [ref. 28950], Birindelli et al. 2013:10 [ref. 32698], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[3] [ref. 35679], Silva et al. 2020:4 [ref. 37809]). Current status: Valid as Leporinus melanopleura Günther 1864. Anostomidae. Distribution: South America: Bahia (Brazil) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
