Replacement name for Leporinus affinis Steindachner 1875, preoccupied by Leporinus affinis Günther 1864. •Valid as Leporinus steindachneri Eigenmann 1907 -- (Garavello & Britski in Reis et al. 2003:78 [ref. 27061], Silva et al. 2020:4 [ref. 37809]). •Valid as Hypomasticus steindachneri (Eigenmann 1907) -- (Birindelli et al. 2020:423 [ref. 37635], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:35 [ref. 41258]).
